In the late 70's, none of the best Les Paul models from any manufacturer other than Tokai had a tiger eye.
At that time, I saw a full-page ad in a music magazine for a limited-edition Les Paul with tiger eyes.
I was so hungry for a tiger-eye Les Paul that I went around to music stores to see the real one. However, after several years without seeing the actual instrument, I happened to find it at a pawn shop.
The workmanship was very handmade, like violin making before the introduction of NC Lutheran. The bridge is very high even if the string height is lowered. The tailpiece had to be adjusted unnaturally high to match. The bridge is a Gibson ABR bridge with high strength and precision transplanted from a Tokai SL-80, and the tailpiece has the strings threaded backwards so that it can be used as a musical instrument.
