Apart from the noise issue, this is the simplest and most user-friendly overdrive.
It can be a clean booster or a driving booster depending on the settings.
Believe it or not, in my personal opinion, Tubeman lacks stand-alone distortion.
So, this kind of unit is a must-have.

I borrowed it from a friend, but he never asked me to return it.
I think it was a cheap one I recommended at Shimamura Gakki a long time ago, but my memory of that part is a bit fuzzy.
It was a cheap one, about 1,000 yen or so, but the drive was quite good, and when used with Tubeman, it made for a very enjoyable sound.
However, the noise increased as soon as it was turned on, so I guess this was just a matter of price.
If it were my own, I would try to improve it by opening the inside of it and modifying the circuitry, but it is a borrowed product, after all...(^^...)
